Oman to host inaugural session of Legends League Cricket


The inaugural session of the Legends Cricket League, a professional cricket league for former star cricketers, will take place in January 2022.It will be played at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Oman.The first season of LLC will have former cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, England, Australia, among others.They will be divided into 3 teams.

Railway Minister announces introduction of ‘Bharat Gaurav Trains’


Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways has announced the introduction of theme-based tourist circuit trains Bharat Gaurav Trains.The service provider would be free to decide themes like Guru Kripa trains for covering important places of Sikh culture, Ramayana trains for places connected with Lord Shri Ram etc.Train composition will be of 14 to 20 coaches including 2 SLRs (Guard Vans).

India to grow at 9.1% in 2022: Goldman Sachs


Goldman Sachs has projected India to grow at 9.1 per cent in the calendar year 2022 from 8 per cent in the current year (2021-22).India’s economy recorded a comeback in the first quarter growing at 20.1 per cent.The double-digit growth was on the back of a low base as the economy had contracted by 7 per cent in the last fiscal.


NITI Aayog releases inaugural SDG Urban Index and Dashboard 2021–22


NITI Aayog launched the inaugural SDG Urban Index and Dashboard (2021-22) on 23 November 2021.The index and dashboard are a result of the NITI Aayog-GIZ and BMZ collaboration, under the umbrella of the Indo-German Development Cooperation.Shimla topped the Index followed by Coimbatore and Chandigarh in the category of the urban area.Meerut and Dhanbad were at the bottom.

Equitas Bank ties up with HDFC Bank to offer co-branded credit cards


HDFC Bank and Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited have announced a partnership to launch new co-branded credit cards.They will be available for customers of Equitas Bank and can be availed in two categories.The first category is the ‘Excite Credit Card’ which offers a credit limit from ₹25,000 to ₹2,00,000 and the second is the ‘Elegance Credit Card’ which offers a credit of over ₹2,00,000.

EPFO can park 5% annual deposits in alternative investment funds


The central board of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has approved investing up to 5 percent of the annual deposits in alternative investment funds (AIFs) including infrastructure investment trusts (InvITs).A 5% investment exposure in AIFs means, the retirement fund body will park up to Rs 10,000 cr in AIFs as it has an annual accrual between Rs 1.9 lakh cr and Rs 2 lakh cr.


India and World Bank sign loan agreement for Andhra Pradesh


The Government of India, the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the World Bank have signed a legal agreement for $250 million.It has been signed for a project which aims to improve the quality of learning for over 50 lakh students in the state of Andhra Pradesh.Students from all grades and stages of school education will benefit from the project.

Brit Awards scrap male and female categories


The Brit Awards has announced it will scrap its female and male categories from 2022 as it goes gender-neutral for UK and international artists.The next Brit Awards is due to take place on February 8, 2022.The 42nd edition of the awards show, will also extend nominations to featured artists in the coveted song of the year category.Until now, only lead artists were recognized as nominees.


AIR and Doordarshan win UNESCO-ABU Peace Media Awards 2021


Doordarshan and All India Radio received multiple awards at the recently held ABU – UNESCO Peace Media Awards-202 in Malaysia in November 2021.AIR’s programme ‘Living on the edge – The coastal lives’ won an award in the category of ‘Ethical and Sustainable Relationship with Nature’.Doordarshan’s programme ‘DEAFinitely Leading the Way won under ‘Living Well with Super Diversity’ category.

Indonesia Open Badminton championship begins on 23 November


The Indonesia Open badminton championship began on 23 November 2021 in Bali.PV Sindhu and former world no. 1 Srikanth Kidambi will lead India’s challenge at the Indonesia Open.The Indonesia Open is a Super 1000 event which will also be the last opportunity for players to qualify for the upcoming World Tour Finals from 1-5 December 2021.

34th All India Postal Wrestling championship begins on 22 November


34th All India Postal Wrestling championship began in New Delhi on 22 November 2021.Tokyo Olympic Bronze medallist wrestler Bajrang Punia and Indian Olympic Coach Anil Mann were the chief guests.Eleven postal circles across the nation, including Delhi are participating in the event.For the first time in the history of the championship, women wrestling has been inducted in the tournament.


Tamil Nadu wins Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021


In cricket, Tamil Nadu lifted the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy defeating Karnataka on 22 November 2021.Tamil Nadu won their 3rd Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title.The final was played in Arun Jaitley Stadium Delhi.Shahrukh Khan was adjudged as the Man of the Match.Tamil Nadu will receive a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh while Karnataka will get Rs 5 lakh.


Bulgarian President Rumen Radev wins Presidential re-elections


Bulgarian President Rumen Radev won the Presidential elections on 21 November 2021.He has now secured a second five-year term and will be formally reappointed in January 2022.Radev defeated Anastas Gerdzhikov in the elections.He is a former Air-Force Commander.Bulgaria is a country in Southeast Europe, with Sofia being its capital.


Uniform 12% GST rate for MMF textiles from January 2022


The Union Government has notified uniform goods and services tax rate at 12% on Man-Made Fibre (MMF), MMF yarn, MMF fabrics, and apparel.The changed rates will come into effect from 1st January 2022.This will help the MMF segment grow and emerge as a big job provider in the country.The GST on MMF, MMF yarn, and MMF fabrics were 18%, 12%, and 5% respectively.


The fifth East Asia Summit to be held on 23-24 November 2021

  • The fifth East Asia Summit, EAS Conference on Maritime Security Cooperation will be held in Kolkata on 23-24 Nov’21.
  • It is being organized by India in partnership with Australia.
  • Organizers include the ASEAN-India Centre at Research and Information System for Developing Countries.
  • Union Government will be represented by Riva Ganguly Das, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot allocates portfolios to ministers

  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 22 November 2021 allocated portfolios to ministers of his expanded cabinet.
  • Twelve new ministers were inducted and three ministers of state were elevated to the cabinet rank.
  • The 15 new ministers were sworn in on 21 Nov 2021.
  • Parsadi Lal Meena, who was Industries Minister in the old cabinet, was given the portfolios of medical and health, and excise.

SBI, PONLAIT ink pact on loan to dairy farmers

  • State Bank of India (Chennai circle) has inked an MoU with the Puducherry Cooperative Milk Producers Union (PONLAIT).
  • It will provide loans to individual dairy farmers.
  • The loan would be given under SAFAL (simple and fast agriculture loan) scheme of the bank.
  • The amount of loan is up to a limit of Rs 3 lakh.
  • Around 3,500 dairy farmers supplying milk to 98 milk societies would be benefited.

Fibonacci Day: 23 November

  • Fibonacci Day is celebrated on November 23 every year.
  • It honours Leonardo Bonacci, a leading mathematician of middle age, who brought the Fibonacci sequence.
  • It is observed on November 23 because the digits of this date form a Fibonacci sequence.
  • When written in mm/dd format (11/23), it forms 1,1,2,3.
  • A fibonacci sequence is a series where a number is the sum of the two numbers before it.

ISRO’s 5-day Technology Conclave-2021 inaugurated on 22 November

  • Union Minister of State Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated ISRO’s 5-day Technology Conclave-2021 on 22 November 2021.
  • He highlighted the futuristic and disruptive technologies such as satellite-based quantum communication to be developed by ISRO.
  • The Conclave is being organised by the Directorate of Technology Development & Innovation (DTDI) under the aegis of ISRO.

India’s first Virtual Science Lab for children launched on 22 November

  • Union Minister of State Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh launched India’s first Virtual Science Lab for children under the CSIR Jigyasa programme on 22 November 2021.
  • It will also connect students with scientists across the country.
  • It will facilitate classroom learning with laboratory research for school students.
  • The target audience is students of the standard VI to XII.

RBI announces draft amalgamation scheme of PMC with USFB

  • The RBI has announced a draft amalgamation scheme of the Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank with Unity Small Finance Bank Ltd. (USFB).
  • It envisages the takeover of the assets and liabilities of PMC Bank including deposits, by the USFB.
  • Under the scheme of the arrangement, the depositors will get their full amount back over a period of 10 years.

EESL ties up with MSME ministry, UNIDO to implement energy efficiency

  • Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has partnered with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
  • It aims to deploy 35 energy-efficient technologies.
  • The project also aims to adopt various business models of ESCO (Energy Servicing Company).

Patalpani railway station to be renamed as Tantya Mama railway station

  • Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced that Patalpani railway station in Indore will be renamed as Tantya Mama railway station.
  • Indore Bus Stand will also be named after him.
  • Tantya Bhil or Tantya Mama was a dacoit (bandit) active in India between 1878 and 1889.
  • He is recognized by Indians as a heroic figure. 
  • He was also called as Indian “Robin Hood”.

DMRC launches first prototype developed driver training system

  • The Delhi Metro launched the first prototype of an indigenously developed Rolling Stock Driver Training System (RSDTS) on 22 Nov’21.
  • This driver training system has been jointly developed by Bharat Electronics Limited.
  • The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Bharat Electronics Limited, also demonstrated the functioning of a Super Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
